Communications Officer
Brisbane, full-time fixed term

We are seeking a dedicated Communications Officer to join our team.
This is a unique opportunity to use your skills to make a tangible difference to the lives of people living with HIV and the Queensland community.

Full-time (38 hours) between Monday and Friday.
Fixed-term contract to 30th June 2026, with possibility of extension.
SCHADS Award, SACS Level 4.1 ($44.58/hr) + super + salary packaging to increase your take home wage.

About the role:
As our Communications Officer, you will be an essential part of a small, dynamic team. You will support the implementation of our communications strategy and our Operations Team by:

Creating engaging and accessible content for a variety of channels, including social media, websites, newsletters, and publications.
Assisting with the coordination of media relations and stakeholder engagement.
Supporting the planning, promotion, and execution of events and campaigns.
Providing administrative and project support.
Ensure our communication efforts are timely, consistent, and impactful.

About you:
You are a highly organised and detail-oriented individual with a flair for writing and editing. You are a deft hand at using presentation, design, and website programs, with an ease in learning new software and skills quickly. You are comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, and you thrive in an environment where no two days are the same. You are deeply aligned with QPP’s mission and values, and you possess a strong commitment to inclusion and diversity.

Essential requirements:
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a communications, marketing, or creative/design support role.
Proficient or better in Adobe Illustrator and the Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
Demonstrated experienced in managing social media platforms.
Well-developed verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including people with lived experience of HIV, academic partners, health professionals, and community organisations.
The provision of a National Police Check of six months currency (or international check if lived overseas in the last 12 months) or evidence that a National Police Check has been applied for.
A current Queensland Blue Card or equivalent interstate Working with Children Check.
Ability to work remotely and seek supervision effectively.
Willingness to work outside normal business hours as required.
Highly desirable experience or knowledge:
Proficient or better in the broader Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat Pro etc).
Experience in website design and maintenance, WordPress, CSS, and/or HTML.
Experience working with or alongside marginalised or vulnerable communities.
Experience within a community health, public health or not-for-profit setting.
Current Australian Driver’s Licence.
