Job Description
We currently have multiple casual positions with the opportunity to working over a consistent roster each week in the Southern suburbs of Adelaide.
The people we offer services to are unique and diverse. They are interested in working with support staff who pay attention to their individual circumstances and who are prepared to listen to what is important to them!
The role you're applying for will offer opportunities to learn and develop your professional practice lead by an active and supportive leadership team that hold our values at the centre of all we do. Some of our participants live with complex challenges that require innovative thinking to negotiate.
Successful application MUST demonstrate:
- Clear spoken English and strong communication skills that will enable them to engage successfully with people who experience expressive communication challenges.
- Strong understanding of positive behaviour support and trauma informed models of supports.
- Experience or knowledge of managing complex behaviours, specifically Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA)
- Genuine interest in other people’s preferences and interests with a strength-based mindset.
- Great awareness of how to support people with sensory dysregulation.
- Initiative and innovative thinking to ensure person centred engagement.
- Respect for family values and willingness to work alongside family members.
- Personal resilience and integrity.
- Sense of humour alongside the capacity to maintain firm boundaries in a gentle and respectful manner.
Successful applicants MUST have:
- Minimum Certificate 3 in Individual Support (disability), Community Services, Mental Health, etc. with significant experience in relevant work.
- DHS Working with Children Clearance
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- Senior First Aid and CPR certificate
- Safe Environments for Children & Young People certificate (or RAN)
Highly Desirable:
- Certificate 4 in Individual Support (disability), Community Services, Mental Health, or other relevant qualification
- CPI Safety Intervention training
- Mental Health First Aid
- Experience working with a trauma informed approach
- Full Australian Driver’s License
- Reliable car for use of private vehicle and willingness to provide vehicle safety checks and have full comprehensive car insurance.
This role requires that you are able to:
- Follow daily tasks, activities, and schedule to ensure a safe comfortable living environment, always maintaining professionally appropriate engagement.
- Provide support and services to our participants that keeps them at the centre of all you do whilst at work
- Encourage our participants to be engaged in their own lives and their community in a way that feels valuable to them,
- Be an effective role model for our participants and carry out all tasks and functions in accordance with relevant NDIS and company standards, policies, and procedures.
- Work collaboratively and innovatively with colleagues to achieve objectives identified by and with the organisation and our participants
- Follow individual care plans and work collaboratively with families and other support professionals
