Established in 1989 to service the Greater Western Sydney region, WSU offers undergrad, postgrad and higher research degrees in its Bankstown, Blacktown, Campbelltown, Hawkesbury, Liverpool, Parramatta and Penrith campuses. Seven schools offer a full complement of courses to around 50,000 students, with the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment, and the Religion and Society Research Cluster, the notable research institutes. While WSU boasts many alumni of note, Peter Jonason might take the cake, thanks to his Ig Nobel Prize for the 2013 paper “Creatures of the Night: Chronotypes and the Dark Triad Traits.”
