Location: Australia (remote, flexible hours)
Hours: 10-15 hours/week (flexible)
Rate: $30-35/hr
Duration: 2 months initially, likely to extend
About Us
We're an early-stage startup building software for trade businesses. Small team, pre-launch, moving fast.
We need someone to help us talk to potential customers, learn what they need, and keep our social media active.
What you'll do
Customer Research (~70%)
Reach out to potential customers via Instagram, Facebook, and phone/text
Run short discovery calls (15-20 mins) using a script we provide
Engage in relevant online communities — start conversations, ask questions
Follow up with people who've shown interest to learn more about their needs
Document what you hear — weekly summary of feedback, common problems, quotes
Social Media (~30%)
Schedule and post content across Instagram and Facebook (we'll provide the content)
Respond to comments and DMs
Light community management — keep conversations going
Flag any interesting leads or feedback that come through
You might be a good fit if you
Are currently a Marketing Masters student or similar
Are based in Australia
Are comfortable messaging strangers and getting on calls
Can hold a natural conversation without sounding scripted
Are familiar with scheduling tools (Buffer, Later, Meta Business Suite, etc.)
Are organised and can track conversations in a spreadsheet
Have reliable internet and a quiet space for calls
Bonus if you
Have done outreach, sales, or customer research before
Have managed social accounts for a business or side project
Understand the audience we're targeting (trade/service businesses)
What you'll get
