Casual Support Worker

Job Description
We are looking for 2 kind, caring, down to earth support workers to provide casual support to a lovely, bubbly young woman in her early 20s.
The young woman has down syndrome and is in the process of transitioning from living with her family in the Sunshine Coast to her own 2 bedroom serviced apartment in Milton.
She enjoys music, singing, dancing, accessing the community and spending meaningful time with people she enjoys spending time with.
This role would be great for Uni students; perhaps those studying social work/ nursing/ counselling or something similar in health services. The applicants would also have a passion for making a positive difference in the lives of others and enjoy supporting someone to meet their individual goals and dreams.
The young woman is new to the Brisbane area and has never lived independently before; so this will be a rewarding and exploratory role, whereby support is required to make new connections, friendships and networks within the local area and try new things within the community.
Support is also required to build safety and risk-management skills and confidence within the home.
There may also be overnight support offered as part of this role.
Other support required:
Prompting support, support with meal time/ utilising the kitchen, what to organise for the day, support with time management & getting organised for appts and daily activities, assistance with accessing the community, support with managing risks/ maintaining safety in the home and in the community, transport training, assistance with networking.
