A day in the life of a Disability Support Worker at Workpower:

You pick your customer up in the morning and help get them excited and prepared for the day ahead, because you are taking them to celebrate!
Today you are celebrating the success of achieving one of the customers goals of getting a job, a job that you helped them apply for and helped build their skills for.
You take them out bowling with their friends to celebrate this success.
You share in their happiness as and enjoy watching them in their excitement over achieving a goal you both worked hard to get.
You help them through their day, assist in the celebrations by both engaging in a fun activity while achieving some social goals.
After bowling, it is time to help them get prepared for this new job by going shopping for any supplies they may need.
Happy from the day gone by, you drop them home and tell them you will see them Monday where you will help them begin their new and exciting journey in their new job!

Workpower is a local NDIS service provider making an incredible difference in the lives of hundreds of Western Australians with disability – providing support through an extensive range of employment services and community programs to create a world of opportunity.

Our NDIS Supports team has more than 150 disability support workers across the Perth Metro area, paired with people with disability who are passionate about building their life skills, staying social and working towards a meaningful career.

What our next Disability Support Worker will have:

Experience working with complex supports
Experience working with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Have an enthusiastic and ‘can do’ attitude
Have an inclusive approach and you enjoy helping people to achieve their goals
Knowledge of safety within a community setting
If you are successful in joining the Workpower team, you will need a few things before we can get you stuck into kicking some goals!

NDIS Workers Screening
National Police Clearance
Working with Children Check
First Aid Certificate
A current C Class drivers license, as well the up to date registration for your own reliable transport.

While there are some things you need to have, there are also some things that aren’t necessary, but would be desirable:

Certificate IV in Disability Services or equivalent
Medication Management Training (epilepsy, diabetes, etc.)
Manual Handling experience
Experience providing employment support within a community setting.
