Established in 1964, Macquarie University was Sydney’s third such institution, and has since become the first in Australia to fully align its degree system with the Bologna Accord, the EU’s standardisation of higher education. Its verdant (or ‘gumtree’) university status means that the Macquarie campus is a stunning one, unfurled over 126 hectares of landscaped lawns and natural bushland 16km northwest of the Sydney CBD. The university has 35 departments spread across four faculties: Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Faculty of Science and Engineering, and Macquarie Business School.
