The Magistrates Clerks Branch is currently seeking motivated andcapable administrative people (multiple positions available) tojoin as judicial support within the Magistrates Court.
The Magistrates Clerk is an important element of the courtproceedings and is responsible for the provision of a comprehensiveadministrative support service to the Magistracy both in and out ofcourtroom, including the accurate recording of court proceedings,and management and production of supporting documents for thecourt.

Magistrates Clerks have the opportunity to work in alljurisdictions of the Magistrates or Youth Court and may have theopportunity to travel to various CBD, suburban and country courtlocations.

As the role requires a specific skill set, Magistates Clerks aresupported with an initial period of at least 3 months (full-time)and have the ability to progress to higher responsibility andremuneration levels thereafter. Full-time and part-time roles areavailable, of varying tenures, at various locations.

ABOUT our organisation
The Courts Administration Authority of South Australia’s primarypurpose is to provide participating courts and court users withservices and facilities that support the proper administration ofjustice.

We have a workforce of over 700 employees working under theCourts Administration Act 1993 in an independent statutoryauthority. Most of these employees work in an administrativecapacity to support the courts to operate effectively.

  • Special Conditions
    The following special conditions apply to this position:

  • Temporary contracts up to 12 months, with possible extension
  • Appointment is under the Courts Administration Act, 1993. Terms and Conditions of employment are governed by the Public Sector Act, 2009.
  • This role is identified as a Prescribed Position and the successful applicant is required to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) prior to employment with the CAA, which must be renewed every five years before expiry. WWCC’s can be obtained through the Department of Human Services (DHS) Screening Unit
  • Appointment is dependent upon a current National Police Certificate that the CAA finds satisfactory.
  • As a justice agency, the CAA may receive details of spent convictions as part of any Criminal History Screening and use this information in the selection process.
  • Appointees will be required to disclose their COVID-19 vaccination status.
  • You will be required to undertake work related intra or interstate travel, which may require driving a motor vehicle and overnight absences.
  • You will be required to work at any court sitting place in any jurisdiction of the Magistrates Court or Youth Court, or any business unit on a temporary or ongoing basis.

    ASO3 – ASO4 ($65,606 – $77,901 per annum)
