We are Nunawading Swimming Club, one of Australia’s high performance swimming clubs and original home of many Australian swimming representative athletes including Matt Temple, Col Pearse, Brendon Smith, Brooke Hanson, Ash Delaney, Belinda Hocking and Jess Hansen. In our long history we have had our swimmers compete in 8 Olympics, 5 Commonwealth Games, and we are the #1 Victorian Club , , .

Nunawading Swimming Club (NSC) comprises of two key operational streams. The Club, a competitive swimming club which caters for junior competition swimmers, through to performance level swimming, and the swim schools- known as Just Swimming, offering learn to swim classes for babies, pre and primary aged children from 4 months – 14yrs of age. Just Swimming provides learn to swim across four locations, all situated in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

Nunawading Swimming Club is seeking interest from an experienced finance professional to join its Board of Directors in the key role of Treasurer (Volunteer).  The Treasurer shares responsibility and decision-making with other members of the Board and it will therefore be an important part of the Treasurer’s role to ensure that other Board members understand financial information that is being presented and the implications of this information.

Prospective candidates will hold previous experience in the relevant discipline of Finance or Accounting (CA or CPA Qualified) as well as a demonstrated commitment or involvement in community organisations. 

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Participate actively in governance processes, ensuring focus on Nunawading Swimming Clubs purpose and mission and be committed to the values and culture of our club and swim schools.;
  • Monitor the organisation’s current and future financial health;
  • Have sound understanding of payroll, superannuation, GST;
  • High level spreadsheet knowledge;
  • Review operating budgets;
  • Define and follow statutory and regulatory financial deadlines and responsibilities;
  • Identify and manage risk;
  • Have a strategic focus and be able to look beyond the current environment to identify new approaches to deliver innovation and value in the future;
  • Meet a high standard of ethical conduct;
  • Have a good working knowledge of corporate governance and/or risk management principles and practice, the Corporations Act and the obligations to the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission;
  • Be an experienced collaborator and skilled at building connections to harness the collective strengths and resources of Nunawading Swimming Club and the Board;
  • Participate in Board and Director evaluations and in at least one Board Committee (and have the skills and interest to potentially lead a Board Committee or Board projects).
  • Meeting Obligations

    Available to meet monthly online on the third Thursday of the month between 6.30-8.30pm

    Selection Process

    The process will involve:

  • Lodgement of an Expression of Interest including a cover letter outlining your background and interest in joining our board
  • Applications review, shortlisting and interview.
  • Board Approval.
  • Announcement.
  • Applicants are asked to carefully consider whether accepting a Nunawading Swimming Club Directorship would give rise to an actual or perceived conflict of interest as a result of their current employment or circumstances, and if so, are requested to include a proposed mitigation plan as part of their application.
