About the role

In this 12-month opportunity you will report to the Manager Research and lead SA Water’s research and development programs and projects through their development, delivery, close out and implementation of outcomes to generate financial, reputational and risk mitigation benefits for the business.

You will be an integral part of SA Water’s drive towards carbon net zero and zero net waste, collaborate with the broader water industry on solutions to challenges and on opportunities to provide innovative services to customers and be part of bringing the latest science, engineering, and technology into SA Water.

You will be collaborative and be able to achieve strong outcomes with our partners and community to bring diverse thinking as we solve problems, learn, and grow. This means building strong relationships with our internal and external stakeholders is key to the success of our research and development team to ensure we deliver on organisation performance and customer outcomes so you will need exceptional communication skills and a demonstrated ability to influence, empower and engage stakeholders to bring together contrasting views and build effective, innovative solutions.

Some of the key responsibilities of this role:

  • Support engagement with internal business partners to identify knowledge gaps and R&D needs
  • Provide input to the R&D planning process.
  • Manage R&D programs and projects
  • Drive and support business sponsors to develop, maintain and implement plans for adoption of R&D outputs to realise business outcomes and benefits.
  • Ensure that R&D outputs are captured in relevant information systems and available for business use.
  • Promotion of R&D capability and activities internally and externally
  • What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Agile thinking, strategic planning, effective negotiation, and strong leadership skills which will support successful, knowledge-backed and fit-for-purpose decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage large, complex or strategic R&D programs and projects
  • A tertiary qualification in science, engineering, management or other relevant discipline, or significant demonstrated experience
