Job Description

  • Alcohol and other drug (AOD) Clinician – Permanent, Full-Time (1.0 FTE)
  • Registered Nurse – Permanent, Part-Time (0.8FTE)
  • Do you love working with young people? Community Alcohol and Drug Services (CADS) Auckland are looking for a Nurse and AOD clinician to join our youth team based in Kingsland.

    The Altered High Youth Service is a vibrant and innovative service for rangatahi/young people (13-20 years) with substance use concerns and also supports their family/whānau members. We are mobile and cover the whole Auckland region. We are a service with high standards of clinical practice and support the growth and development of staff. We form close community/ professional relationships with a wide range of youth development and health networks across Auckland.

    We are currently looking for someone with relevant expertise who is passionate about working with rangatahi and whānau, feels comfortable meeting rangatahi where they are at, and values working clinically within a supportive multi-disciplinary team.

    Applicants will be able to demonstrate a willingness and commitment to working in partnership with Maori and Pacific Island youth services and with a range of services/sectors such as Child and Adolescent Mental Health services, Oranga Tamariki, Education and Justice.

    Essential

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and professional registration (dapaanz, nursing, social work, counselling or related fields)
  • Relevant knowledge of working with rangatahi and their whānau.
  • Knowledge of the concepts of harm reduction and a willingness to work within this framework.
  • Experience in clinical assessment, treatment planning and therapeutic interventions.
  • Experience in counselling and group work.
  • The ability to work both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective networks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Full, clean drivers’ licence
  • Legal right to work in NZ
  • Ability to implement Te Tiriti O Waitangi in your daily work
  • Preferred

  • Clinical experience working with youth and their families/whānau.
  • Relevant training in AOD, family work and/or CAMH. 
  • Relevant postgraduate health or education related tertiary qualification.
  • Lived experience as a consumer or whanau member
