The Laboratory Technician is responsible for assisting the laboratory function by ensuring all samples are appropriately prepared and analysed in a timely manner while assisting with various other laboratory duties, to achieve operational, customer and quality requirements.

Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, the role will focus on:

  • Working in the fast paced wet chemistry laboratory preparing samples for analysis by dispensing, filtering, pipetting, and centrifuging in accordance with sample/analysis requirements and preparation methods.
  • Ensuring samples are completed in a timely manner and correct methods, procedures or work instructions are used and adhered to.
  • Perform other routine analysis, or validations and project work in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Complete all quality control records in accordance with quality requirements and work instructions.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of their work area and processes, aiming for better safety, quality, turn-around-time and efficiency.
  • Contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of laboratory operations.
  • Qualifications

    As an important role within Eurofins APAL, the following selection criteria are essential for success:

  • Certificate / Diploma in Laboratory Techniques; or equivalent qualification or a current student studying a science or agricultural related field; or significant laboratory experience will be an advantage
  • Experience in a commercial laboratory will be an advantage.
  • Experience in other fast paced environments would also be an advantage.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to structure thoughts deliberately, logically and directly.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent numeracy skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Reliable, responsible and punctual.
  • Additional Information

    During our peak period of December through April, we are looking to fill Sample Preparer positions that range from fixed term full time & fixed term part time roles on both day and afternoon shifts.

    Fixed-Term Full-Time / Fixed-Term Part-Time & Casual positions available.
