Job Description

This position will oversee DGS recruitment, including establishing recruitment processes and practices for supporting hiring managers in the new department. The Manager, Recruitment will demonstrate a sound understanding of contemporary recruitment methodologies and corporate governance requirements, possess strong HR systems thinking skills, and will work cross-functionally delivering quality outcomes and excellence in service delivery. You will lead a small team in providing operational and strategic advice to a diverse range of stakeholders in a fast paced and complex environment, drawing upon your expertise to create tailored business solutions and ensure the integrated and seamless delivery of recruitment and related services across the department. The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone’s experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.

About the role
As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Demonstrated management experience in leading recruitment and workforce service functions, preferably within a government or public sector
  • Highly-developed interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, provide advice on processes and policies, and work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to influence outcomes
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills, with the ability to recognise opportunities for continuous improvement, and provide strategic recruitment, reporting and workforce advice to executives, senior leaders and hiring managers to influence and grow best practice VPS recruitment and workforce services
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead a high functioning team that efficiently manages competing priorities and deadlines, generates tailored business solutions whilst making clients and their needs a primary focus for maintaining satisfaction. Ability to lead and make sound judgements, respond positively in a complex environment
  • Maximises team effectiveness by managing, developing, and motivating a high functioning team. Has a proven ability to develop individual capabilities and team performance and work collaboratively across multiple functions and disciplines
