Associate Professor / Professor (Mental Health Nursing)

Joint Appointment between – USQ School of Nursing and Midwifery and Darling Downs Hospital and Health Services

The University of Southern Queensland and Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service are seeking an experienced, innovative, and driven Mental Health nursing professional in the role of Professor to be based at our Toowoomba campus. In this role you will be empowered to lead the outcomes associated with future development of mental health nursing practitioners through the delivery of a sustainable contribution underpinned by effective teaching and research programs and practices. Appointment may be considered at Associate Professor level.

The Division of Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs, Darling Downs Hospital (DHH) and Health Service provides specialist services to a large regional and rural area across Southern Queensland.

Key accountabilities:

This position provides an outstanding opportunity to establish and promote a collaborative research partnership, in a postgraduate education pathway underpinned by a multidisciplinary environment including:

  • The realization of social and economic benefits which advance the research image and reputation of UniSQ and DDH at a national and international level that translate to research income.
  • Lead, mentor and empower research teams across sophisticated research projects
  • Provide leadership and engagement opportunities to USQ and DDH employees in community focused affiliations, particularly those related to Mental Health Nursing, in professional, commercial, and industrial sectors

About you

We are particularly interested in your experiences related to an outstanding record of scholarly accomplishment, research, and engagement. To truly succeed in this role, you will be recognised as a leading authority in Mental Health Nursing and possess the following:

  • Current Nurse registration with, or eligible for, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Applicants must be an Australian or New Zealand Resident, Pernanent Resident of currently have applicable Australian work rights.
  • A distinguished research track record, including high-quality publications, external funding or other relevant applied research outcomes
  • Validated capability in leading, coaching and mentoring of others in developing constructive and effective work teams
  • Demonstrated experience in driving and delivering engaged and reflective approaches to teaching that produce the best possible outcomes for students
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills that foster and reflect effective and collaborative relationships

Term:  Full time or Part-time appointment may also be considered.

Salary : Appointment will be made at Level D or Level E, dependent on qualifications and experience.

Level D: Total remuneration range $174,436.49 to $191,814.11 pa (includes salary range of $147390.36 to $162073.60 pa, employer superannuation contributions of 17% of salary and annual leave loading)

Level E: Total remuneration $223,681.48 pa (includes salary of $188,999.98pa, employer superannuation contributions of 17% of salary and annual leave loading)
