Marsh is seeking candidates for the following position based in the Hobart office:

Senior Account Executive / Business Development Executive

What can you expect?

In this role, you will work with the wider Tasmanian team in providing sales solutions to prospective customers, whilst building and maintaining strong and effective networks and relationships to generate business and increase revenue.

As a Senior Account Executive, you will work with the Sales Executives and Segment Leaders across Marsh in managing and developing accounts, utilising up-sell and cross-sell products and services to maximise profitability in addition to managing an existing portfolio.

  • We will count on you to:

  • Conduct target market and industry research in conjunction with the MMC Resource Centre to support and drive sales activity

  • Cultivate and qualify prospect relationships including key contacts and financial data

  • Review and update databases to identify target portfolios and identify market opportunities

  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and new ways to streamline our process and drive growth

  • Manage, maintain and grow an existing portfolio of clients

  • Implement Client First Principles across the portfolio of clients

  • Engage with and manage all internal stakeholders in delivering ‘all of Marsh’ to your client base

  • Develop and maintain meaningful working relationships with insurers through regular contact and liaison

  • Maximise utilisation of Marsh’s national and global resources

  • Diligently manage a prospect pipeline, maintain regular communications with all prospects and efficiently move opportunities through the sales funnel

  • Leverage marketing channels as well as buying groups and association relationships

  • Lead the development and delivery of proposals and presentations to prospects to articulate our understanding of specific risk issues and how our solutions and services can address specific issues

  • Be able to identify client needs and clearly articulate our proposed solutions

  • Possess excellent writing, networking and presentation skills

  • Be highly self-motivated with the ability to influence and lead other colleagues in the pursuit of an opportunity

  • Possess and apply a thorough understanding of all major classes of insurance which the Company offers to its clients and keep abreast of all new technical and product developments through attendance at company and industry training events

  • Recognise and capitalise upon revenue generation, growth and other opportunities

  • Develop new business opportunities from existing portfolio and other sources

  • What makes you stand out?

  • Minimum of 5 years previous experience working in the insurance industry, with a proved track record growing a portfolio of clients and executing sales

  • Tertiary qualification in business, finance or a related discipline

  • FSR Tier 1 and 2 training via a reputable industry body (e.g. ANZIIF, NIBA)

  • Ability to relate to the challenges faced by our corporate & commercial client base

  • Competent user of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel, Word, Outlook
