    Permanent, Part-time Opportunity

    We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Cook. The role is based in tranquil Bongaree on Bribie Island, a popular holiday destination offering beautiful coastline, stunning national parks and plenty of outdoor fun.

    Bribie Island Aged Care Service is a 127-bed resident care service offering a range of personal care, therapies and accommodation. All meals are made fresh on site with local ingredients and cater to personal preferences and nutritional needs of our residents.

    About the Role

    We are currently looking for passionate Cook to play a pivotal role in supporting our hospitality team at Bribie Island Aged Care Service in Bongaree on part-time basis.

    As a Cook you will be preparing high quality, nutritious meals for our residents with different care needs and special dietary requirements, maintaining hygiene standards, and assisting in creating varying menus to keep our residents excited. Sharing your cooking experience and compassionate and patient nature, you will actively contribute to establishing high standards of customer service to our residents and participate in continuous improvement.

    In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing nutritious, high quality meals including breakfasts, lunches and dinners, snacks and desserts;
  • Perform administrative duties related to the kitchen operation (stock taking, food quality assessments, food orders);
  • Developing relationships with residents and their families to seek feedback on how to make our menu even more exciting;
  • Working closely with the Hospitality Team Leader to develop new and exciting menus;
  • Maintaining hygiene standards within the kitchen and adhering to health and safety procedures;
  • Working with a friendly and supportive team of Environmental Service Workers.

    Remuneration for this role is from $25.66 per hour commensurate with experience

    About You

    You will have comprehensive understanding of legislation relevant to the industry plus knowledge and application of safe food hygiene practices. Your highly developed prioritisation and time management skills are just some of your strengths. You will enjoy working with the elderly and have empathy to their needs. If you are also enthusiastic, reliable and work well in a team environment, this is an excellent opportunity for you.

    To be suited to this position you should have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial food preparation, cooking processes, food hygiene control and cleaning chemicals used in a kitchen;
  • Minimum one-year experience as a commercial cook, working in a hygiene-controlled environment;
  • Experience working within the Aged Care industry is desirable but not essential as we will provide you with training to succeed in this role;
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and a Food Safety Supervisor certificate is desirable;
  • Practical knowledge of legislation relevant to hospitality services including experience of operational achievement of accreditation standards;
  • Willingness for shift and weekend work.
