What is the role?

 

AFP Corporate Enabling Services

 

The AFP’s corporate enabling services (human resources, finance and commercial, procurement and contract management, facilities, strategy, policy and governance) are delivered through a tiered operating model.  Service standards are set by the Chief Operating Officer (COO) portfolio; with generalist support/triage services delivered through a centralised helpdesk (Tier 1).  Command-specific services (operating in regional offices across Australia, including Canberra) are delivered by multi-disciplinary Command Corporate Service Units (CCSU’s – Tier 2).  Strategic and specialist services are delivered by centrally operating centres of excellence (Tier 3).

 

The role of Team Member Human Resources (HR) delivers services at Tier 2 within a CCSU.

 

As a Corporate Team Member you will be working under the direction of your Team Leader and other CCSU leaders to deliver professional, high quality and timely corporate services. You take appropriate actions to anticipate and identify risks and opportunities, manage complex, challenging or sensitive projects in a timely and professional manner.

 

You have vast networks across corporate teams and leverage these relationships to put the frontline and operational areas at the centre of everything you do, enabling the Command to achieve superior operational outcomes.

 

You will be responsible for performing a range of high level duties to achieve the AFP and Command’s strategic direction and undertake day-to-day tasks and project work consistent with the AFP Values, AFP Core Leadership Continuum, AFP Corporate Plan and your Performance Development Agreement.

 

 Team Member Human Resources

 

The HR team supports a Command through the delivery of HR policy, advice and reporting, people analytics, workforce management and recruitment for the Command/s aligned with the CCSU service offer. You are responsible for working collaboratively with the People and Culture Command and your team to drive and support efficient, effective and compliant HR services across a Command.

 

You are dynamic and flexible in your approach to day-to-day work, have the ability to organise your work, make sound decisions and achieve outcomes. You work productively across the team, sharing information and cooperating to deliver on team objectives. You are able to engage with multiple stakeholders, communicating effectively to deliver high-level outcomes that foster a positive reputation and trust in the team.

What will you do?

 

As a Human Resources Team Member, you perform a variety of HR functions for the Command.

 

Your responsibilities include the following:

 

  • Work collaboratively with the People and Culture Command, national teams to effectively execute HR services for the Command, including the provision of expert advice and support on policies, procedures, applicable legislation, and contemporary HR best practices.

  • Develop and implement projects, strategies and initiatives as part of the broader strategic requirements of the Command.

  • Supports the Command in the development and implementation of local workforce plans, workforce planning, analytics, reports and projections to inform current and future planning.

  • Provision of best practice performance management advice and guidance, including informal and formal processes and practices.

  • Manages and undertakes end-to-end recruitment activities for the Command including, development of role scopes, role sizing analysis, advice and support on internal and external recruitment and selection processes, liaising with Delegates and the Selection Advisory Committee and overseeing completion of recruitment gateways and on boarding.

  • Coordinate and support of the Commands Human Resource Committee/s including negotiating with other CCSUs on the mobility of staff and secretariat responsibilities.

  • Maintaining currency in subject matter expertise through ongoing professional development and learning opportunities outside the formal education process.

  • Performing a range of office management activities including triaging Team’s Outlook inbox, responding to enquiries in a timely manner.

Essential Requirements

 

  • You must be an Australian Citizen.
  • Qualifications in Human Resource Management or progress towards achieving this qualification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the role HR undertakes in supporting the delivery of business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in organisational performance and data analytics reporting; performance management advice and case management.
  • Intermediate to Advanced competency in Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • High-level communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in writing briefings for internal and external audiences.
  • Negative Vetting 1 security clearance or the ability to obtain one.

Desirable Requirements

 

The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:

 

  • Experience with SAS VA data analytics or similar software.
  • Experience with SAP.
