About the Role

Bruce Rock District High School (DHS) is seeking to appoint an outstanding academic leader with strong leadership skills including an ability to articulate a vision and define goals both personally and for others.

The successful applicant will ideally display excellent communication and interpersonal skills including an ability to mentor, guide and advise staff and students; as well as expertise and leadership in the implementation of the Western Australian Curriculum across all four contexts: Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Earth and Space Sciences and Physical Sciences. They will ideally have skills in educational leadership including an ability to plan strategically and set courses of action as well as the ability to establish and sustain a culture that promotes educational best practice in the team.

Skills and capabilities required to respond strategically to contemporary research, trends and initiatives that support the implementation of best practice are considered highly desirable, as is an ability to develop strong relationships and an affinity with students, staff and parents in an open and approachable manner. Additionally, outstanding organisation, administration and ICT skills, as well as a commitment to ongoing professional learning and professional development are both considered highly desirable.

Our core strategic objective is to raise student achievement outcomes. This is central to all work undertaken at our school. We value the linking of learning with real world experiences and the currency students can take into pathways beyond school. We are seeking someone with leadership of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) initiatives to engage and prepare students for future career pathways.

The successful applicant will bring with them a passion for student achievement, innovative thinking and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. They will be an excellent practitioner who leads by example, having students front and centre in their own pedagogical practice. There is a requirement to undertake a teaching load of the two secondary classes for Science.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
