Research Associate – Symmetry at The University of Western Australia (Perth)

Job Description

As a Research Associate you will contribute to the vibrant research environment of the CMSC. You will perform research on problems related to group theory, in accordance with the aims outlined in the ARC Discovery Project “Symmetry: Groups, Graphs, Number Fields and Loops”.

You will present and publish research outcomes, collaborate with other researchers in the CMSC, participate in student supervision and assist with research administration tasks.

About you

To be considered for this opportunity, you will have:

A PhD (or near completion) in a relevant field

Research background in simple groups and their application to permutation groups

Effective use of computational tools such as Magma or GAP

Ability and willingness to perform research administration tasks

Strong research publication record relative to applicant’s experience

Excellent communication skills with the ability to work both independently and in a team
