How can you inspire innovation at Nuseed?

We’re looking for a laboratory scientist to join the team in Horsham, Victoria. Our innovation centre delivers canola varieties for key global Nuseed markets and utilises a broad range technology.

The primary responsibility of this role is to undertake technical activities associated with the Double Haploid Laboratory at Nuseed Canola Innovation Centre Horsham and undertake lab research experiments under the direction of the existing team.

What will you be doing?

Follow and improve laboratory research protocols to successfully extract microspores for production of Double Haploid plants under the direction of Lab Research Scientist.

Follow and improve laboratory research protocols to subculture plant embryos and transfer to plant growth mediums for seed production under the direction of the Lab Research Scientist.

Use research technical equipment (Flow Cytometer) to interpret and record plant chromosome copy number.

Record and summarise genotype response data relating to all Double Haploid protocol steps.

Assist with projects associated with glasshouse, field and other laboratory duties as required.

Ideal candidates will have the following:

An undergraduate degree in Science or Ag related studies would be be considered

Experience working in a Laboratory environment would be highly desirable although training will be provided

Good computer skills in data management

Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
