Your Opportunity

As the Hospitality Trainee you will be responsible for:

  • Providing assistance in the day to day operations of the region’s training restaurant. This involves restaurant and function service (including some evenings). There will also be an administrative aspect to this role.
  • Undertaking studies in Certificate III in Hospitality during the course of their employment.
  • This position reports to the Education Operations Manager.

    This is a Temporary, Full-Time opportunity for 12 months, unless otherwise determined.

    The position will be based primarily at Mooloolaba Campus however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Front of House Service including Cash Handling, Bar Duties and all other duties normally involved in a Hospitality workplace.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent personal presentation and hygiene.
  • Ability to manage own workflow efficiently, negotiate priorities in timely manner.
  • Provide courteous, efficient and timely customer service to external and internal clients.
  • Respond appropriately to verbal or written instructions.
  • Provide efficient and timely support as a member of the hospitality team.
  • Perform duties within set guidelines and procedures, continually seeking improvements in the way in which work is performed.
  • Contribute to the achievement of the regions outcomes and objectives by being client focussed, responsive, flexible and committed to the delivery of a quality service, whilst continually seeking improvement.
  • Model and actively promote an ethical and safe work environment that supports a culture of zero harm and best practice regarding health, safety, wellness and sustainability.
  • Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Commerciality, Teamwork, Innovation and Accountability.
  • How you will be assessed

    The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

  • Ability to quickly acquire the skills necessary to sometimes work unsupervised.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, to work within guidelines and procedures and to provide a quality customer service.
  • Ability to prioritise and plan workflow to achieve outcomes within identified timeframes.
  • Ability to perform duties within a team environment.
  • Developed communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Mandatory Qualifications/Requirements

  • Minimum education standard (Year 10 level) in English and Mathematics.
  • P or Open Class driver’s licence
