About the role

We are currently seeking a People Lead (HR Business Partner) – Part Time, to join Laing O’Rourke on a large Civil/Rail project based in Melbourne, VIC. Partnering with Leaders and our project delivery team to support the development and delivery of HR strategic direction in the provision of employee relations. This permanent, full-time role offers exciting career opportunities in joining a people-centric, privately owned tier 1 constructor and an international engineering enterprise.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Ensuring our employee experience is central to decision making across all project stages
  • Enabling collaboration within the team and fostering a trusted culture
  • Supporting the team in ensuring our ‘Knowing our People’ agenda is embedded within the team
  • Leading all HR activities across the project including all employment lifecycle, supporting resource planning, workforce development, employee development and engagement
  • Coaching leaders with engagement, retention and change management activities
  • Providing advice on complex employment relations issues such as performance management, grievances and disciplinary issues. 
  • Work in close collaboration with the project leadership team to identify, manage and provide advice on employee issues and risks.
  • Conduct workplace investigations in accordance with policies and procedures

 

About you

  • Minimum of 5+ years experience in a generalist Human Resources Senior Advisory role with experience gained in a Project Construction or Heavy Industry environment.
  • A tertiary qualification in Human Resource Management or equivalent.
  • Understanding of employee relations and experience engaging with workforce, subcontractors and unions.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with an ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral) with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong technical knowledge of relevant workplace legislation.
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • An ability to work well in a team and autonomously.
