About the role
This position is an excellent opportunity for a Medical Scientist to extend and develop their career in a fast paced, high volume Histology Laboratory. 

The Histology department is  seeking an experienced an experienced Medical Scientist with at least 5 years experience working within a Pathology Laboratory setting. Highly desired experience in Histology, which advanced technical and practical knowledge.

The Laboratory is comprised of the Laboratory Manager and 17 staff within the lab.

70 percent FTE are senior scientist, 30 percent FTE are junior scientists. 

The role would be a day shift supervisor working 6am-2pm Monday to Friday
Looking for a highly experienced histology scientist to not only supervise the laboratory but to also do bench work when required.

About You

• B.App.Sci (Medical Science) or equivalent
• Equivalent and eligibility for membership of the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists (AIMS)
• At least 5 years experience working in a Histology Laboratory setting recommended
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in:
  • All routine histopathological techniques
  • Immunohistochemistry
  • Special stains
  • In-situ hybridisation
  • Surgical cutup
• Maintain levels of solutions, fluids and wax used in various areas of the department, e.g fixatives, alcohols and waxes
• Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner and to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
• Sound understanding of legislation, policies and requirements that impact the laboratory environment including work health and safety and privacy requirement
