The role

The 9LV CMS is currently operational on both the ANZAC and LHD platforms and development is ongoing on a number of other platforms within the Royal Australian Navy and for a range of International customers.

The purpose of this role is to coordinate a group of CMS software teams under the guidance and direction of the 9LV Software Manager.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Take ownership of all software deliveries into programs as assigned by the Software Manager.
  • Support software estimations by providing resourcing and performance metrics.
  • Identify high level scope and stakeholders of software work packages.
  • Accountable for ensuring all stakeholders understand and agree the scope, budget and time to complete of software work packages.
  • Supervise and provide direction to your teams to deliver software components within agreed budget and schedule.
  • Responsible for managing cost accounts for work packages associated with teams assigned to you.
  • Accountable for identifying lessons learned associated with software work packages ensuring appropriate metrics are recorded for future use.
  • Accountable for managing the 9LV product by ensuring your teams engage the global development groups, manage change in the product and maintain a functional roadmap.
  • Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office will be considered for this role.

    About you

    Your skills and experience will include:

  • Tertiary qualifications in systems engineering, computer science, or related technical discipline.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the development and/or leadership of large software projects.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the lifecycle of large software development projects.
  • Proven ability in internal customer liaison.
  • Experience in planning software development into practical work packages.
  • Experience in helping engineers grow into senior technical roles.
  • Experience in estimating software deliveries.
  • Proven ability to identify, quantify and management software related risks.
  • As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
