Senior Research Analyst

Job Description

Overview:

You will support the Executive Director, Research and Compliance by managing the Research team’s aspects to which you have been assigned to ensure production schedules are maintained and opportunities developed. You will manage, mentor and train staff for whom you are responsible. You will provide high level analytical, data gathering and editorial expertise and operations management. Research areas you will be responsible for span:

  • Superannuation.
  • Funds and investment management.
  • Platforms and managed accounts.
  • Wholesale investment products.
  • Insurance products.
  • Financial planning.
  • Banking products.
  • ESG.
  • You will work with the Executive Director Research and Compliance and team colleagues to ensure team projects and goals are achieved. You will liaise with stakeholders within the business to ensure processes and systems that impact your team’s work are functioning optimally, eg, the Data Services Team and Software Development You will represent Rainmaker professionally at stakeholder meetings, industry events and functions.

    Specific tasks may include:

  • Management of the Research team components to which you have been assigned.
  • Data collection, harvesting and analyses.
  • Production of reports, research products and awards and ratings analyses.
  • Production of league tables and other tabular outputs.
  • Production of proprietary indices.
  • Production of chart packs.
  • Handling research related queries from external and internal clients.
  • Contributing to Research team editorial projects.
  • Qualifications:

  • Tertiary Qualification in related disciplines or equivalent experience.
  • Strong skills, understanding and awareness of Australia’s wealth management industry insofar it is relevant to superannuation funds, investment managers, platform operators, intermediaries, exchanges and regulators.
  • Experience and interest in the wealth management industries with a view to new data and research outputs likely to be useful in the short, medium and longer term.
  • Ability to innovatively source, organise and manage data.
  • Ability to produce usable research outputs.
  • Reasonable writing ability and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Project management experience across multiple time-critical tasks.
  • Reasonable interpersonal and communication skills.
