Job Description

Reporting to the Associate Professor in Rural Health, you will assist in the development, supervision and assessment of undergraduate and graduate entry students in nursing, and in interprofessional practice opportunities. You will also coordinate, liaise and develop the nursing placement programs, in collaboration with key stakeholders in the Midwest.

You will liaise with relevant universities, apply professional standards of practice at the level relevant for students supervised, and contribute to the evaluation of the student placement program and the impacts on students’ work readiness, rural practice understanding and attraction to future rural health positions.

You will also collaborate with the WACRH team in Geraldton, Karratha and Carnarvon through their role with student placement administration. 

This position will contribute to the evaluation of the student placement program and the impacts on the students’ work readiness, rural and remoted practice understanding and attraction to future rural health positions together with other teaching, research and evaluation activities as directed.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:  

  • Recognised nursing qualification and nursing registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and have a minimum of 3 years post registration experience. Applicants with dual Nursing and Midwifery registration would be highly considered
  • Experience in clinical supervision
  • Commitment to principles of person-centred, family-centred and culturally appropriate health care, interprofessional practice, service learning and community development as they apply to rural and remote Australian communities
  • Experience in the integration of theory to drive the development, delivery and evaluation of innovative nursing and/or midwifery and/or public health programs in rural and remote communities
  • Postgraduate qualification in a field that supports professional practice, health professional education, public health or research/evaluation (desirable)
  • Experience in regional and remote health settings (desirable)
