  • Base salary range: $119,390 – $126,335 p.a. plus 17% superannuation

About the team

The Office of Research is responsible for formulating and providing policy advice, and for developing and implementing procedures to effectively coordinate and administer externally and internally funded research activities which enhance the University’s research reputation. The Research Operations Team is responsible for the procurement and administration of internally and externally funded research grants, contracts and postdoctoral research fellowships.

About the opportunity

You will lead and manage the Post Award Team in the administration of the University’s internally and externally funded research grants.  You will have a significant role in providing key strategic planning and direction of the team, including developing and influencing policies, procedures and processes to ensure the efficient functioning of this area.

About you 

With exceptional client focused skills and a detailed oriented problem solver with experience operating with a wide array of partners across government and commercial sectors, you will lead the provision of expert professional services in supporting UWA’s research projects. 

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency
  • Substantial and extensive management skills and experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated expertise and understanding of Australian higher education research funding and policy
  • High level interpersonal, verbal and written communication and negotiation skills to enable consultation at executive level
  • Ability to vet and negotiate research contracts
  • Ability to supervise staff and allocate resources
  • Ability to determine long term planning and key strategic direction
