Administration Officer, Clerk Grade 3/4 – Legislative Council – Parliament of NSW – Sydney, CBD-00009JCG

  • One temporary full time position for up to 12 months in the Committee Office and one temporary two year full time position in the Bicentenary and Corporate (Black Rod) Office, each with the possibility of ongoing employment.
  • $75,992 pa – $83,211 per annum (Clerk Grade 3/4), plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

    About us

    We are a dynamic, hardworking team supporting the work of the Legislative Council in the NSW Parliament. This includes supporting the work of the Chamber and the numerous inquiries conducted by parliamentary committees, as well as coordinating events and visiting delegations.

    The Legislative Council is the Upper House of the NSW Parliament. It is a House of Review, and acts as a check and balance on the Executive Government. The Department of the Legislative Council supports the activities of the Upper House, including its sittings, committee inquiries, protocol and corporate responsibilities. It also undertakes communication and engagement activities to inform and educate the community, as well as key internal and external stakeholders.

    The Department has three parts – the Procedure Office, the Corporate and Bicentenary (Black Rod) Office, and the Committee Office. The advertised roles are based in the Committee and Corporate and Bicentenary (Black Rod) Offices.

    Department staff strive to provide exceptional services to our key stakeholders including the President of the Legislative Council, members and their staff, government agencies, participants in committee inquiries, members of the public and visitors to Parliament.

    About the positions

    Administration officers in the Committees team assist with the processing of submissions, organisation of hearings and committee meetings, management of records, and production of committee reports. They also assist in responding to enquiries from a wide range of stakeholders.

    Administration officers in the Black Rod team are responsible for providing administrative support including contributing to the organisation of events related to the Bicentenary of the Legislative Council in 2024, protocol and ceremonial events, managing records, completing routine financial transactions and responding to enquiries from a range of stakeholders including the Office of the President.
