About the Opportunity

We now have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist in the Immunology/Serology department of the Bowen Hills laboratory. Our department is the Sonic reference centre for flow cytometry, infectious serology, protein studies, autoantibodies and allergy testing.

The successful applicant should possess:

  • Appropriate qualifications in medical laboratory science (or equivalent)
  • Advanced knowledge, expertise and skills necessary to perform testing in the disciplines of Immunology and/or Serology would be highly desirable
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, organisational and communication skills and the ability to work as an effective member of a team
  • Superior resilience and emotional intelligence
  • The demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and work methodically and efficiently whilst adhering to occupational health and safety policies
  • Flexibility to cover a variety of shifts, including weekend and on-call work
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to liaise with management and pathologists in certain situations
  • Enthusiasm to take on additional duties within the laboratory
  • A commitment to Sonic Core values and understanding of ethical considerations and workplace health and safety

Previous experience in a clinical flow cytometry laboratory will be highly regarded. Please detail any VISA conditions you may have if you’re not a permanent resident of Australia.
