Chef – Tea Gardens Boatshed

Position: Full time Chef

Salary : $54,000 – $60,000 plus 10% superannuation. (Full time)

Hours per week : 38 hours ( during the business hours on a rotational weekly roster)

Tea Gardens Boatshed Restaurant has been established for the past 17 years. In that time, we have grown to incorporate a fully licensed cafe and restaurant capable of seating 60 guests.

The restaurant is fully licensed and is open for breakfast and lunch 7 days per week. The restaurant is open for dinner select nights in the low and off-peak season, progressing to more nights per week during the Christmas, Summer and Easter Holiday periods.

Breakfast: 7:30am – 11.00am 7 days, Lunch: 12:00pm – 3.00pm 7 days

Dinner: we are open for select nights during the School Holidays 5:30pm – 8:30pm

As a Chef you will perform the following duties:

· planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies

· monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation

· discussing food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians and kitchen and waiting staff

· demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures

· preparing and cooking food

· explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations

· Train junior staffs.

· Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment

· Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)

· Cook food in various utensils or grillers,

· Check food while cooking to stir or turn

· Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served

· Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen

· Ensure all food and other items are stored properly

· Check quality of ingredients

· Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
