About the role

We are delighted to announce that we are currently seeking applications for Orica’s next HR Manager for our AusPac region, the largest region in the Orica business. This critical role has come about due to an internal promotion to the broader Orica business, recognising the achievements of business partners, who have demonstrated consistent dynamic, strategic, HR and commercial skills.

This is an exciting and rare opportunity, and the successful person will focus on partnering with the business on complex and critical commercial matters, will be a member of a dynamic, high performing and geographically diverse legal team, and will report into the Regional Head of HR  for AusPac. 

As a senior HR professional, you will play a vital role in partnering strategically with and providing guidance to our senior leaders and line managers (both operational and functional) and employees on a range of areas to promote and support workforce engagement, high performing teams, employee relations, talent and development, performance management, and the application of HR Policies and Procedures across Australia. 

This role can be based in either Brisbane or Newcastle.

What you will be doing

  • Partnering with business stakeholders to deliver HR initiatives that drive improved business outcomes, employee engagement and develop a high performing culture.
  • Providing expert HR Generalist guidance and strategic project opportunities on diversity and inclusion, workplace conduct, supporting organisational planning and succession planning.
  • Supporting the business on workplace investigations and outcomes, relevant industrial agreements, union relationships, disputes, and working with our People Services team on policies, procedures and consultative HR support.
  • Provide advice and support to line managers to assist them to resolve ER issues including performance management and discipline.
  • Reviews of regional industrial relations trends and the provision of ER/IR advice to the AusPac business.

What you will bring

  • As a qualified HR professional, you will understand the business partnering model and the value add in delivering this relationship with the AusPac business.
  • Qualifications in Human Resources or other related disciplines, or substantial experience in a related role is essential.
  • You will be a confident problem solver and capable decision maker that will have strong communication skills to enable you to identity opportunities and ability to implement change with other stakeholders. 
  • Sound understanding of HR policy, employment law and employee relations; you will demonstrate behaviours that are aligned with best practice and the Orica charter of values.
  • Demonstrated previous work experience in a similar role HR Generalist and/IR/ER; as well as working in a complex operating environment.
  • A willingness to travel on occasion when required.
