  • About the Role 
    This is an exciting opportunity for an Indigenous Student Recruitment Specialist to join the Indigenous Student Services Team for the Moondani Toombadool Centre (MTC)

    You will primarily be responsible for coordinating and administering all Indigenous student recruitment activities, internal and external. The role directly supports the Manager, Indigenous Student Services to lead the implementation of key initiatives and strategies to increase and improve access for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander future students.

    The Indigenous Student Recruitment Specialist will work closely with MTC partners, the school sector, and Indigenous organizations at a local and national level.

    This is a Targeted position and an affirmative measure therefore only open to applicants of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage in accordance with an exemption granted under section 12 of the Vic – Equal Opportunity Act 2010. This is a recruitment strategy to increase Swinburne’s Aboriginal workforce.

    About You
    To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 

  • Provide support and expert advice to all potential Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and current students wishing to pathway to further study.
  • Manage and leverage key Swinburne Marketing and Recruitment events to promote pathways to the Indigenous community.
  • Identify external marketing opportunities to promote MTC and Swinburne as the University of choice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Lead the development and production of promotional material for MTC website, Koorie Mail, Indigenous Times, in conjunction with marketing
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure improved access and entry processes for future Indigenous students
  • Lead, design and manage yearly calendar of recruitment events that will raise the profile of Swinburne as university of choice for future Indigenous students
  • Develop and implement engaging aspirational on campus experiences for secondary aged Indigenous school students.
  • Identify and develop place-based programs with a particular focus on STEMM
  • Manage and solve complex access and admissions issues

  • Qualifications

  • A degree with at least four years subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise in technical or administrative fields
  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples in an education/training setting.
