About the role

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Ward Clerk to join the Accident & Emergency Department on the Hobart Lenah Valley campus.

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, the Ward Clerk is responsible for admin and clerical duties including patient registrations and updates, answering phone queries, completing patient admissions, and billing and banking with some cash handling.

There is currently a permanent part time position available.  These are shift working positions, and as such, the successful applicant must have the ability to work all shifts, including nights. Located at Lenah valley Hospital.

  • Excellent communication, customer service and people skills
  • Proven ability to work as part of a small team and able to take instruction and complete given tasks under minimal supervision/autonomously
  • Proven ability to manage duties and organise competing priorities
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations and information
  • Outstanding time management skills
  • Cash handling and banking experience (desireable)
  • Experience with Health Fund and Medicare submissions (desirable)
  • Experience with IPM (desirable)
