About the opportunity

  • Permanent, part-time administration role based at Max Webber Library
  • 22.5 hours per week
  • Strong customer service and teamwork skills are required.

Do you have initiative and problem-solving skills? Do you enjoy learning new tasks and procedures? Our Library Operations team is seeking a dedicated and team-focused individual to provide administrative support to the Library team.

If you are hard-working and are a confident computer user who enjoys learning to use software we would like to hear from you. To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate strong communication skills, and experience in cash handling and banking procedures.

The successful applicant may also be required to assist with the set-up and pack-down of furniture and equipment for the Max Webber Library Function Centre. This position provides administrative support to Library staff and assists with the creation of e-Newsletters along with maintaining the Library’s digital presence on Instagram, Facebook and Eventbrite.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Minimum Higher School Certificate qualifications
  • Relevant computer skills, including but not limited to MS Office
  • Experience in cash handling and banking
  • Relevant experience in accordance with requirements outlined in the position description
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to customer service
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and independently
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of EEO and WHS principles with the demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse client groups.

Desirable:

  • Current class C driver’s licence
  • Public library experience
  • Experience using TechnologyOne or similar software
  • Experience with web publishing
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain social media accounts.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,122.68 per week
  • 22.5-hour working week 
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 10.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
