Purpose of Role:

The Weir Group have won a contract to provide aftermarket components and service to the Iron Bridge Magnetite Project in WA. To support the Project and future growth, we are opening a new service centre facility in Port Hedland, Western Australia!

Reporting directly to the Service Facility Manager, and being part of an international team, the Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for a unique and exciting opportunity to work in a brand new Weir facility.

Supporting and leading a crew of qualified technicians on site to overhaul the Weir High Pressure Grinding Roller Assembly.  (HPGR) Your emphasis and focus will be on quality, efficiency and continuous improvement as we go forward managing this exciting new project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the HPGR team at the Port Hedland Service Centre Facility to establish and implement a sustainable growth of the allocated HPGR business unit. 
  • Its paramount that you have a safety focus, attention to detail and committed approach to continuous improvement in all day-to-day activity.
  • Drive a collaborative team culture to ensure a positive, safe and healthy workplace.
  • Understand that our customer needs are a priority to ensure that all aspects of our customer needs are met.
  • Strong effective communication is required for the workshop, our local site and our international team.
  • Attention to detail in gathering and reporting data is essential
  • Have the ability to identify and support training gaps within the workshops
  • Ensure that all Certification for High-Risk activities are current and relevant to the Tasks.
  • All other duties as requested by the Service Centre Facility Manager
  • Show flexibility in managing urgent breakdowns and flexibility to working outside normal operating hours

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

  • Cert III in Mechanical Fitting or Cert III Fitting and Machining
  • Experience Supervising a crew on site
  • Certificate or Diploma in Leadership or Management is desirable
  • High Risk Work License – Forklift, Dogging, Rigging, Bridge Crane
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and work 12-hour shifts on site
