Job Description

About the Role

Here at BOQ Group we have been busy working behind the scenes building out our fastest-growing team – Group Risk – for an exciting and ambitious future-state.

You may have seen we have plenty of Risk-related roles to choose from. We are strengthening, simplifying, and digitising, whilst ensuring our foundations are in place. With foundation comes strength, and we are building strong and stable teams to work across our multi-branded business but most importantly, elevating our Risk culture – there is so much opportunity to contribute to the overarching frameworks and be paramount in supporting our transformation into a digital bank.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our fresh-faced Legal and Compliance team as a Senior Compliance Partner, closely aligning with our Retail Bank Financial Crimes teams. This position will see you play a large role in the transformational uplift on our compliance culture, building out frameworks to enhance capability and compliance maturity – very exciting and very rewarding!

Responsible for providing independent review, advice and challenge of initiatives, issues, incidents etc in the Retail Bank to ensure they comply with financial crime compliance obligations, you will be the go-to for all initiatives, issues, and incidents with a Retail Bank Financial Crimes lens, ensuring they comply with financial services obligations, as well as ensuring all conduct risks are managed accordingly.

This role will require a dedicated, inquisitive individual who is dedicated to building strong relationships with the ability to deep-dive to really understand what the business division does, to offer first class compliance advice. With your strong knowledge of risk and control methodologies, along with exposure to control design, testing and effectiveness you’ll be able to appropriately balance risk and the needs of our customers.

You will also be joining a super-collaborative passionate team, who work hard, but love to have fun along the way!

About you

Degree qualified in Business, Commerce, Law, Economics, or a similar discipline, you will come armed with strong time management skills, a curious eye to find solutions and the ability to meet tight, often changing, regulatory deadlines.

With your essential experience coming from a Financial or Banking institute, you understand the importance of working within a highly regulated industry – bringing detailed knowledge and understanding of financial services obligations specifically around Financial Crime Compliance Obligations, including the AML/CTF Act, Annual Control Self-Assessment (CSA), AUSTRAC guidance, as well as internal financial crime compliance frameworks, policies and industry practice.

With your sound experience working in and supporting Financial Crime Compliance, your understanding of financial and banking products and services will enable you to pinpoint areas requiring further analysis and attention, ensuring a pragmatic and robust approach to compliance.

Working for us is fun and fast-paced, and we are seeking top talent to take us where we want to go. BOQ Group people are easy to spot. They’re smart, energetic, full of ideas and passionate about what they do. If this sounds like you and you’re looking to join a multi-brand on the forefront of financial services, we’d love to chat!
