  • About This Opportunity 

    The project aims to address the urgent need for transformational shift in thinking and actions in primary healthcare service delivery. The primary purpose of this position is to provide specialist research/technical subject matter expertise in support of high-quality research and translation outcomes at all stages of the project and manage the activities of the research team.

    The position will be based at the St Lucia Campus in the UQ Business School.

    The Post-doctoral researcher will work closely with the Lead Chief Investigator Professor Janet McColl-Kennedy, and the other members of the research team.

    Key responsibilities include:

    1. Research

  • Support a research program, conduct research, and prepare human ethics submissions
  • Work collaboratively on the development of joint research projects, produce quality research outputs, and prepare research articles for publication in high quality peer-reviewed journals and conferences
  • Prepare materials for presentation at seminars and national and international conferences, as well as for dissemination to industry partners
  • Undertake both quantitative qualitative interdisciplinary research based on service research, innovation and marketing theory, strategic management theory, business model innovation, digital technology and sustainability
  • Undertake in-depth interviews, ethnographic observations and survey design and implementation and assist in the design workshop
  • Collaborate closely with industry partners and researchers
  • Undertake systematic literature reviews and potentially quantitative meta-analyses on relevant bodies of literature to gain insights at the cutting edge of multiple domains of knowledge
  • Assist with formulating and management of project budgets and work plans
  • Contribute to the transfer of knowledge, technology, and practices to end users through translation
  • Review and draw upon best practice research methodologies
  • 2. Supervision and Researcher Development

  • Effectively co-supervise Higher Degree by Research students as opportunity permits
  • Facilitate engagement opportunities for Higher Degree by Research candidates
  • 3. Citizenship and Service

  • Demonstrate behaviours that align to the UQ values
  • Show leadership of self and others through mentoring, collaboration, and active participation in priority activities
  • Begin to develop external links and partnerships by cultivating relationships with industry, government departments, professional bodies and the wider community

  • The position reports to Professor Janet McColl-Kennedy, the Lead Chief Investigator of the grant.
  • About You

  • PhD in service research, marketing, management, business information systems, organisational behaviour, organisational psychology, social psychology, or a related discipline (completed or under final examination)
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting and analysing qualitative quantitative research
  • Evidence of research activity and publications in high quality journals, relative to opportunity
  • A strong ethic of project delivery and reporting to specifications
  • An ability to and interest in establishing effective relationships and to represent and promote the research area at a university and wider community level, including industry, government, and professional bodies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from a multidisciplinary background
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in one or more of the following research literatures: service research, services marketing, service management, innovation.
  • Knowledge of healthcare service delivery is an advantage
  • Knowledge of the translation of university or private sector research settings to practice is an advantage
  • Demonstrated high-level communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and negotiate with other stakeholders to ensure program objectives are met
  • Strong interpersonal and written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work well in an interdisciplinary team.
  • What We Can Offer 

    This is a full time 100% FTE Fixed-term position commencing May 2023 to December 2025 at Academic Level A.

    The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $74,308.68 – $99,426.59 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $86,941.16 -$116,329.11 per annum.
