THE ROLE

The is currently seeking an experienced Research Operations Manager for a 12 month, fixed-term appointment, supporting Applied BioSciences, a research focused department. Reporting to the Head of Faculty Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing and delivering operational plans, financial and budget management, provision of general business support services and administration, contributing to business development and providing strategic advice to the leadership team.

  • Key Accountabilities

  • Provide strategic advice, support and recommendations to the Head of Department and key stakeholders and take a lead role in the development and implementation of operational and resourcing plans

  • Contribute to business development and work collaboratively with stakeholders to actively pursue opportunities with a view to enhance relationships, collaboration and financial/contract outcomes.

  • In consultation with the Head of Department, define service provision modes, undertake financial modelling and develop pricing structures to assess profitability, provide advice relating to viability and impact, develop and implement service level agreements as required

  • Provide general business support services including contract negotiations and management/execution, and coordinate with faculty or central support services to progress contracts and deliver outcomes

  • Manage and provide operational and administration support across all business operations including business development, on-boarding clients, administering staff and student lifecycles, purchasing and reporting, social media, communication and marketing, budgets and financial processing and management

  • Ensure effective governance frameworks, controls, systems and procedures are in place and aligned with faculty and university policies, procedures and guidelines

  • Salary package: HEW Level 8 from $109,553 to $121,901 per annum, plus 17% employer’s superannuation.

    Appointment Type: Full-time, fixed-term for 12 months. Flexible work arrangements, including part -time, job share, flexible start and finish times or partial work from home may be considered for this role.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification/s and or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated ability to plan at both strategic and operational levels with strong organisational skills to ensure the delivery and implementation of operations and services

  • Operating as a value-add business partner

  • Proven ability to provide leadership and encourage a collaborative and cooperative work environment across a variety of stakeholders

  • Highly developed conceptual, analytical, problem solving and research skills including the ability to develop innovative solutions

  • Exceptional relationship management skills with the demonstrated ability to develop effective strategic and operational relationships with key internal and external stakeholders

  • Strong customer service focus and ability to work effectively with a broad range of stakeholders

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Proven ability to exercise initiative and autonomous judgement
