About the position

The Councillors Office is looking for a Councillor and Events Officer who will be responsible for providing a high level of business support to the Mayor and Councillors at external and internal events.

The main responsibilities will include: 

• Provide a high level of business support to the Mayor and Councillors at external and internal events noting some scheduled events being out of normal office hours;
• Provide support for major civic events for the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Councillors, such as ANZAC Day, Vietnam Veterans and Remembrance Day;
• Ensure all citizenship ceremony arrangements are being managed in accordance with the Federal Australian Citizenship Ceremonies Code; and
• Prepare logistics and attend regular Ward meetings with residents and Councillors.

About you

As the successful candidate, you will have:

• Demonstrated knowledge and skills in Microsoft suite specifically Word and Excel;
• High level of oral and written communication skills;
• Previous experience dealing with confidential and sensitive issues; and
• Flexibility to attend events after hours and weekends is essential.

This position is a Band 5 currently remunerated between $76,859 to $88,285 per annum, plus superannuation. Salary level will be based on the experience level of the candidate. Overtime will also be paid as required.
