Job Description

City of Darwin has a permanent full-time opportunity for a qualified and experienced Senior Coordinator Strategic Projects & Events to join our Innovation Hub based at Civic Centre, Darwin, NT.

About the Opportunity:

As a key member of the City Growth and Development Program Area this position provides management, policy, research, planning, reporting and project management services to the portfolio for city growth and development. The role will lead and build upon city growth and development projects in accordance with legislative requirements, City of Darwin policy, processes, approved delegations and values. The position will manage City of Darwin’s city growth and development projects and events program at both a strategic and operational level to provide economic and social benefit to the Darwin community.

If successful you will be required to manage the Events team to deliver Council’s major events program to meet the needs of the community and the organisation in accordance with established policies and practices. You will be required to plan and review outdoor event spaces to ensure they meet current and future needs and review a range of policies, strategies and guidelines relating to projects and events practices with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

The successful applicant will be required to manage, support and deliver projects, including management of project control groups and supervision of consultants. It is highly important that the successful applicant has well developed written and verbal communication skills, as they will be the main driver in building collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and communities of interest to facilitate sustainable, community responsive outcomes.

About you:

This role would be suited to a highly experienced Manager who has had a minimum of 5 years’ experience in leading and overseeing projects and events that lead to increased economic and social benefits to the local community. Has completed a Batchelor of Business or equivalent and can manage diverse relationships at various organisational levels.
