Job Description

Deflector is a high-grade, narrow vein Gold and Copper mine that is located 160km east of Geraldton, only an hour flight from Perth. The ore body features structurally controlled, high grade gold and sulphide mineralisation contained in a series of multiple stacked, basalt hosted lodes. The mineralisation itself is spectacular, with quartz vein lenses, visible gold and massive chalcopyrite all featuring within the ore zone. With a heavy focus on resource definition and exploration, along with recent new high grade ore development in our newest mining zone, South West, it is an exciting time to join this high-margin success story. 

THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, this role will be responsible for the underground grade control function of the deposit. You will ensure ore development is mined to optimise stope extraction and manage core logging and sampling of Grade Control drill programs. The role will also aid in both the planning and implementation of drill programs, reconciliations and modelling of the deposit.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Day to day grade control operations
  • Mapping and sampling
  • Design and monitoring of grade control drilling programs
  • Assisting in the production of grade control block models
  • Providing daily, weekly and monthly grade control reports on mine geology, grade drivers and ore reconciliation
  • Communicate geological and grade data to mining, management and contractor personnel to achieve production targets
  • Ensuring that planning maximises recovery and minimises ore loss and dilution.

ABOUT YOU:

As a passionate and results-driven professional, you will bring your technical expertise and analytical approach to this dynamic and challenging role. You have a positive attitude and a demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders from a wide range of backgrounds to achieve project targets. In addition to this you have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Geology
  • Post-graduate experience in an underground mining environment
  • A sound understanding of underground grade control processes, including diamond drilling
  • Proficiency using Surpac and/or Datamine
  • Exposure with 3D modelling would be preferred
  • A methodical approach to data management and validation processes
  • Gold experience highly regarded.
