    As the governing body for Golf in Australia, our key responsibilities are to encourage participation across the sport whilst supporting the health of all places to play around the country. Working alongside key industry partners such as the PGA of Australia and the WPGA Tour, Golf Australia helps provide player pathways through the events at club and state level, through to the Australian Open. In addition, we support the high-performance program developing talent through to the professional stage.

    About the Role:

    The Events Officer will be primarily responsible for assisting in the implementation of the South Australia events program, including all men’s, women’s, junior and senior golf events, Pennant competitions and related activities and teams. 

    This individual will also be involved in delivering events and activities in other states / territories, and nationally including the Australian Open, as well as events conducted by the PGA of Australia.

    They will work closely with the Event Manager and High Performance Manager located in SA, other GA and PGA event staff, committees, volunteers and facilities to deliver the GA events program with a high level of professionalism. 

    Specific areas of responsibility include:

  • End to end event coordination including entries, draws, logistics, results, prizes, presentations and player satisfaction surveys – ensuring events are delivered to the highest standard and in line with GA delivery levels
  • Delivering events within budget and completing event financial reconciliations and other required reporting
  • Liaising with and coordinating volunteers
  • Event marketing and promotion including up to date website information, posters, and promotion via social media, EDMs and other channels
  • Managing state Order of Merit competitions and ensuring state and national OOM event results are uploaded into the OOM competitions
  • Publishing club events on the event calendar as requested
  • Arranging travel, accommodation and uniforms for SA interstate teams and international representative teams when attending events 
  • Managing and assisting with high performance service provision invoices, coding and finances and online schedules
  • Assisting with the SA Golf Industry Awards Night and Golf SA AGM
  • Assisting with any ad-hoc history/archival requests 
  • Other duties as required
  • Key Requirements 

    The ideal candidate will possess excellent organisational skills to deliver amazing customer experiences for all event participants. In addition, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Sport or Event Management or a related field is desirable (although not essential);
  • High level of initiative and ability to work independently as well as being a productive member of a team;
  • Able to operate in a busy event management environment under pressure, while maintaining a calm and professional manner;
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks efficiently and within set deadlines;
  • Attention to detail and concern for accuracy;
  • Strong communication skills and customer service focus;
  • High computer literacy and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word and Excel;
  • Availability to spend considerable time at tournaments/ events throughout metropolitan Adelaide, regional South Australia and interstate, and the ability to work non-traditional hours;
  • Knowledge of golf is beneficial, however not a prerequisite
