  • About This Opportunity 

    We currently have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Research Assistant based within the School of Communication and Arts. The Senior Research Assistant role provides technical research support and subject matter expertise in support of high-quality research outcomes at all stages of the research life-cycle. This role is an ARC-funded Research Assistant position for ARC Discovery Project DP220100988 . This is a one year part-time appointment focused upon the collection, collation and analysis of international policy literature on digital transactions and fintech in Asia, as well as providing effective organizational support for research events and fieldwork activities in Asia by the ARC project team.

    Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Coordinates activities of the research programme, under the supervision of the Chief Investigator.
  • Assists in the design of multilateral policy research studies, under supervision of ARC project staff.
  • Undertakes detailed analysis and prepares monthly research reports for the ARC project team.
  • Provides logistical support as required for ARC project staff undertaking fieldwork in Asia.
  • Assists in the coordination of research events in Australia, Vietnam and Malaysia.
  • Safety

  • Contributes to the safe, efficient and ethical conduct of research.
  • Ensures that appropriate practices are followed for the successful conduct of international research activity, in line with all relevant UQ policies as well as local regulations where appropriate.
  • Research and administrative support

  • Undertakes literature and data searches, reviews and analysis.
  • Assists with routine team administration for the ARC project team.
  • Assists with conference organization and communication.
  • Assists with preparing reports, graphs, figures and presentations on research outcomes at different stages of the research cycle.
  • Any other duties as reasonably directed by your supervisor.

    About You

    Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Completion of a degree level qualification in an area relevant to Humanities and Social Science research or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or training in digital finance and/or public policy.
  • Excellent practical research skills and experience in social and/or economic policy research.
  • Capacity to summarize and translate policy documents from one or more Asian languages.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, both locally and internationally.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on data collection and collation, research administration and preparation of reports.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and one or more Asian languages.
  • Well-organised, methodical and self-motivated.
  • Previous experience in a similar role would be considered favourably.
  • What We Can Offer 

    This is a part-time (18hrs per week), 0.5 FTE, fixed term position for one year at HEW Level 5.

    The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $74,378 – $82,842 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $87,023 – $96,926 per annum.
