About the Nursing Research Institute:

The Nursing Research Institute (NRI) is a collaboration between St Vincent’s Health Network Sydney, St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and Australian Catholic University (ACU). The NRI is a highly productive research collaborative with a national and international reputation for conducting rigorous, multidisciplinary health services and implementation science research. Our main research focus is to identify the best ways to promote the translation of evidence into clinical practice with the overall goal of improving patient outcomes and health systems.

About the role:

As Research Officer you will assist with research projects from inception to completion. They will assist both the Director and Deputy Director of the Nursing Research Institute with the design, ethics, data collection, reporting and facilitation of up to 30 research projects under their direction. This includes all research and administrative activities required to deliver the research projects working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

More specifically the role entails:

  • Supporting research projects, from inception to completion under the direction of the Director and Deputy Director including literature reviews, sourcing publication, information and data gathering.
  • Assisting with the design, and taking responsibility for the organization, coordination and conduct of qualitative and quantitative data collection of all research projects undertaken at the Nursing Research Institute.
  • Preparing and assisting with applications for Human Research Ethics Review, reports of research findings, publications, grant applications and preparation of literature reviews for all research projects.
  • Supporting students and clinician-researchers from St Vincent’s Health Network Sydney and St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne campuses undertaking research projects including preparing research proposals, funding applications, ethics applications and research project documentation.
  • Managing and scheduling the annual Nursing Research Institute Workshops/Symposium and monthly Research Seminars held at St Vincent’s Health Network Sydney.
  • Data cleaning of NRI public drive and storage of confidential research project information and files.
  • Implementing data storage, in accordance with ACU policy and NSW and national legislation and contributing to continuous development and improvement of procedures for data management including the introduction of new technology.
  • Overseeing the NRI website including content and updates, under the direction of the Director and Deputy Director.
  • Any additional research administration tasks as directed by the Director and Deputy Director of the Nursing Research Institute.

  • Total remuneration valued to $102,522 – $110,125 total rem (pro rata) pa, including salary component $86,633 – $93,057 (pro rata) pa (HEW 6), employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
  • 17% employer superannuation contributions to eligible continuing and fixed-term staff.
  • Annual leave loading of an equivalent to 17.5% of four weeks’ salary pro rata payable, dependent on your commencement date.
