An excellent opportunity has become available for a Cyber Security Technical Specialist/ Incident Responder. This role is perfect for a highly motivated and passionate individual with existing Cyber Security technical experience, or someone with highly technical transferable skills looking to move across into a Cyber Security career pathway.

Opportunity available preferably in Canberra, however also open to Melbourne candidates.

The opportunity:

As a Cyber Security Technical Specialist, you will be primarily responsible for Cyber Security monitoring and Incident Response activities. You will also be involved in and gain exposure to threat hunting, purple teaming, detection development, security engineering and technical deep dive activities.

This role will also require someone with the ability to impart technical knowledge and mentor junior analysts.

To be successful in this role, you need to have the ability and willingness to learn and pick up technical concepts quickly.   

Please note all candidates must be Australian Citizens and hold a minimum of NV1 AGSVA security clearance to be considered. This role will require you to hold and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance.

Your key responsibilities and major tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Respond to security incidents, following the incident response process to resolve information security incidents.

• Take part in, and lead threat hunt and deep dive activities.

• Perform technical escalation tasks and train/mentor junior analysts.

• Identify gaps in service areas and contribute to development of recommendations for appropriate security controls solutions to be implemented to resolve.

• Collaborate with various teams across the organisation to facilitate improved security posture

Enough about us, let’s talk about you. To hit the ground running we are looking for individuals who can confidently demonstrate the following:

• Hold a minimum of NV1 AGSVA security clearance

• Minimum 2 years of experience in an ICT Security Role

• Proficient with Windows and Linux administration and usage

• Understanding of network security architectures, topologies, security services and protocols.

• Understanding of the Mitre Att&ck framework/ cyber kill chain

• Demonstrate ability and willingness to learn

• Be able to work collaboratively with others

• Be able to convey technical information and guide others technically

• Strong leadership skills, demonstrate empathy, high level of emotional intelligence and work with the team
