  • The Role
    Within the Product Management function an EL1 Product Manager is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex to very complex product management work within an integrated workforce. They will require an in-depth knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements. An EL1 Product Manager will exercise a considerable degree of independence and perform a leadership role. 

    They will exercise sound decision making and judgement to provide expert policy advice. They will have in-depth knowledge of the Product Management function and are responsible for the development, implementation, compliance and review of policies and procedures relevant to their work within that function. They will engage in complex to very complex problem solving and issues management and may coordinate and perform detailed or sensitive projects that impact on strategic, political or operational outcomes for Defence.

    About our Team
    The key objective of the MCDSPO is to acquire and sustain Mine Warfare, Clearance Diving and Hyperbaric assets so the ADF can fight and win in the Maritime environment. The MCDSPO is responsible for the sustainment and through-life support of the Mine Hunter Coastal vessels, Deployable Autonomous and Robotic Mine Warfare Systems, Sail Training Ship Young Endeavour, Mine Clearance Diving and Hyperbaric Systems, and General and Specialist Dive Equipment.

    The CN14 Product Manager is responsible for the coordination of sustainment activities for the Royal Australian Navy’s fleet of Huon-class Mine Hunter Coastal vessels, in partnership with a collaborative network of Defence and industry partners through varied contracting arrangements.

    Our Ideal Candidate
    This role will suit someone who is ready to make the step up from the workforce and into a key leadership role within the MCDSPO. The incumbent will have a degree of autonomy to achieve tasks and on how best to work with a large range of stakeholders. The successful candidate will need to be able to manage a complex workload independently whilst being able to influence others who they do not have direct management control over.

    The role is designed for someone who can make decisions with a demonstrated track record of delivering excellent outcomes, regardless of timeframe pressures. If you are highly organised, self-motivated, able to work independently and can confidently brief others, than this role is for you.
