We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Category Manager to join our Red Meat business working in the Beef Team.

This role is responsible for one of the biggest and most dynamic categories in the Woolworths portfolio. Do you want to help shape our sustainability plan and be at the forefront of consumer trends?. Not to mention we sell delicious, premium quality Beef that keeps customers coming back. Come and help us shape the future of protein in Australia 

The primary responsibilities of an Assistant Category Manager include, however, will not be limited to:

  • Buying focus, with an emphasis on project management across a number of cross functional initiatives, such as Reviews, Promotional Strategy, and bringing new products to market
  • Further developing our strategic supplier relationships through effective communication and negotiation
  • Increase sales and profit through implementation of strategic program initiatives
  • Using your analytical skills and understanding of customer insights to make informed decisions
  • Delivering optimum ranges via a planned review schedule, offering choice that is store tailored, reflective of the category roles, incorporates changing customer trends and utilises focused customer insight
  • Identifying new, customer led, product opportunities and bringing these into range
  • Negotiating commercials with suppliers around cost of goods, promotional & marketing funding
  • Ensuring ranges are easy to shop and merchandise, improve customer availability and improve sales and profitability.
  • About You:

    We are looking for an Assistant Category Manager who wants to join a high performing team. We are looking for someone who loves to learn, thrives on data and can turn insights into customer led plans. You need to be comfortable with change and making timely decisions. We need a self-starter who likes to get things done and is happy to work cross functionally with both internal and external teams. 

    A passion for relationship building and making a difference in our stores and for our customers will take you far!.
    You will focus on improving and enhancing our customers’ perception of our value, quality, range and product availability. Being the successful candidate will see you manage key strategic Initiatives, as well as deliver targets on sales growth, profitability and market share.

    To be successful you will have:

  • Previous commercial experience or exposure to the Red meat industry
  • Sound commercial acumen
  • Be customer centric and able to develop a customer focused plan
  • Demonstrated the ability to negotiate and influence with cross functional and external stakeholders
  • An innovation and continuous improvement focused mentality
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to use customer insights and data to make strategic and commercial business decisions
  • Proven ability of delivering against KPIs within previous roles
