We are seeking a Legal Research Officer, to join the Incorporated Legal Practice Avant Law Pty Ltd in our Sydney team for a permanent, part-time (2.5 days per week) role. You will develop and maintain best practice knowledge management and communication to support our solicitors and claims managers.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Promote knowledge and knowledge management within Avant, supporting the development and sharing of resources consistently across practice groups.
  • Develop and deliver a consistent, national framework for the collection, collation, prioritisation and organisation of externally sourced information and institutional claims and legal knowledge.
  • Monitor changes in legislation and case law; preparing case summaries; ensuring the knowledge library is updated; and communications on changing legislation and cases are effectively disseminated to all teams.
  • To contribute to the development and maintenance of legal precedents.
  • Providing research support to practice groups to contribute to efficient and effective legal services.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary legal qualifications such as a Bachelor of Law degree.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Knowledge Manager or Law librarian in a legal environment.
  • Previous experience and demonstrated commitment to change management and a clear ability to impact outcomes and influence others is essential.
  • Well-developed communication skills are required as is an ability to manage and prioritise competing workloads.
  • An understanding of NetDocs, iManage or other document management repositories.
  • The ability to express ideas effectively with proven excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good computer literacy and competency to work in an electronic document management environment.
