About The Kirby Institute:

The Kirby Institute is a world-leading health research institute at UNSW Sydney. We work to eliminate infectious diseases, globally. Our specialisation is in developing health solutions for the most at-risk communities. Putting communities at the heart of our research, we develop tests, treatments, cures and prevention strategies that have the greatest chance of success.

The Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) research group conducts research aiming to improve current strategies for control and elimination of these diseases. To achieve that goal, we lead large-scale community-based intervention studies as well as epidemiological surveys and conduct monitoring and evaluation of NTD control programs.

Why Your Role Matters:

As a Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow, your primary function will be to develop, implement and analyse research projects aiming to assess the burden of NTDs in endemic countries or the impact of NTD control strategies. NTDs of interest include: soil-transmitted helminths, trachoma, schistosomiasis, yaws and scabies. Settings may include Solomon Islands, Vietnam, Timor-Leste, Angola and Vanuatu.

The position will involve consultation and liaison with national ministries of health, researchers in Australia and overseas and affected communities, as well as interaction with other Kirby Institute programs.

The role reports to the Associate Professor Susana Vaz Nery and may have direct reports in the future.
