Due to a structural change, this organisation is introducing a standalone Corporate Secretary position, and are seeking expressions of interest from highly qualified governance leaders.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Corporate Secretary is accountable for providing expert advice on governance, assurance and compliance. With a whole-of-organisation focus, this role will proactively engage with both internal and external stakeholders ensuring that the organisation operates lawfully, effectively and efficiently. The role will provide organisational corporate governance advice and awareness, leading improvements to ensure that the business is well equipped to make informed decisions. You will contribute to a review of the governance and decision-making frameworks, to ensure the organisation is continually making improvements and delivering fit-for-purpose solutions to governance questions. This role is a key support function and conduit between the Executive and the Board and Board Committees, and will suit a values-driven and experienced Board / Corporate Secretary.

You will bring significant depth of knowledge of corporate governance, legal, compliance and probity requirements. Well-known for your ability to effectively work with Boards and Committees, you bring knowledge around legislation, ability to interpret and apply various Acts (including the Corporations Act 2001), and experience in the public sector or a regulated service industry. You will have highly-developed verbal and written communication skills, exceptional organisation skills, and a professional manner. Your interpersonal style will be attuned to providing both expert advice around governance, insurance, legal etc. matters, and also building a positive level of rapport with senior leaders. A qualification in a relevant legal or business field is required, and you will have strong commercial acumen and broad awareness and understanding of business systems and processes.
